Gone are the days of the carefully thought out letters, the nice postcards, and long telephone calls. In its place, new ways to communicate have come and muddied the waters. Due to the immediacy of communication nowadays individuals now expect faster and more immediate responses. The average American attention span is eight seconds as of 2013. While communication is now quicker it isn’t clear. Too often conversation becomes frustrating due to miscommunication and vague replies. Instead of paying attention to how we communicate, the back and forth of communication has become impulsive.
